MedSkippers focus group in Beirut, Lebanon

The International Maritime Academy of Lebanon was honored to host a very successful workshop for MedSkippers Program in Le Royal Hotel Dbayeh, on Saturday 9th, with the support of the ‘European Union - Marine and Fisheries Fund’, and under the Auspices of the ‘International Sailing Schools Association’, ‘ISSA’, with the attendance of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The ‘MedSkippers’ program mainly aims to unify the level of training and licensing of captains and crew on small vessels, for all the Mediterranean countries.
IMA Instructor, Captain Omar Ardati, being an excellent moderator, led us through the topics of Crew Training and Licensing, the Environmental dimensions and implications of Training Modules, cooperation between Charter and Training Sectors, Insurance, and Information Exchange across Med countries of the sector.
Special thanks to Dr. Aref Fakhri of World Maritime University (WMU), Major Charbel Ojeil, Head of Jounieh Port, Captain Naaman Khoury Chief of Maritime Service at ATCL, Commander Mazen Sakr of Lebanese General Security, Captain Hani Hajj, Owner & CEO Dolphin Team Yachting, Mrs. Maya Tayara, Chief of Maritime Training Center department, and all other distinguished guests. Exceptional project leadership by Mr. Tomaz Lipski, Executive President of ISSA Global, Mr. Rafal Kander, Administrative council member and CLO ISSA, and IMA team for an excellent organization of the event.
